Who I Am

This website, canadavisalawyers.com (the “Site”), is the professional website of Miguel Martins Pereirinha, a Canadian immigration lawyer and Partner at Slayen Immigration Law in Vancouver, British Columbia. Legal services are provided through Slayen Immigration Law. This policy explains how personal information submitted through the Site is collected, used and protected, in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

Information I Collect

When you submit the contact or consultation form, you provide your name, email address, phone number and a description of your matter. The Site also processes standard technical information needed to operate the website, including security, hosting and caching information. The Site does not sell, rent or trade personal information.

Website Analytics and Cookies

The Site uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand general website use and improve the Site. GA4 uses cookies and similar technologies and may collect information such as the pages and URLs viewed, interactions with the Site, referring source, browser and device characteristics, and an approximate geographic region derived from an IP address. The Site’s GA4 configuration is intended to measure website traffic, not to collect the content of consultation inquiries, form submissions or immigration matter details. Please do not include personal information in search queries or URL parameters.

We use these analytics reports to understand which pages are useful, how visitors find the Site and how the Site performs. We do not use GA4 data to make legal, immigration or other decisions about an individual.

You can limit cookies through your browser settings or use Google’s Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Google processes Analytics information under its own Privacy Policy.

How Your Information Is Used

Information submitted through the forms is used to respond to your inquiry and, where appropriate, schedule a consultation. Form submissions are delivered by email to the firm’s mailboxes and are not stored in the Site’s database. You will not be added to any marketing list.

Confidentiality and Solicitor-Client Privilege

Submitting a form or sending an email does not, by itself, create a solicitor-client relationship. However, all inquiries are treated as confidential. Please avoid sending highly sensitive documents through the contact form; these can be exchanged securely after we speak.

Where Your Information Is Stored

Email is processed through Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online). The Site is hosted on managed servers. Google and other service providers may process information outside of Canada; where that occurs, the information may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction in which it is stored or processed.

Third-Party Services

The contact page includes an embedded Google Map, and the Site uses Google Analytics as described above. These services are subject to Google’s own privacy practices. The Site also contains links to external websites; I am not responsible for their privacy practices.

Retention

Inquiry emails are retained only as long as needed to respond and to meet professional record-keeping obligations. If you become a client, your information is handled under the firm’s file-retention policies and the requirements of the Law Society of British Columbia.

Your Rights

You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information I hold about you, or withdraw consent to its use, subject to legal and professional obligations. To do so, contact me using the details below.
