If your Canadian visitor visa was refused, the next question is not simply how soon you can apply again. It is what a new application would establish that the first one did not.
IRCC says you can generally reapply at any time unless the decision letter says otherwise. It also warns that applying again with the same information is unlikely to change the decision. Paying another application fee does not fix the evidence.
Start with the refusal and the submitted record
Read the refusal letter alongside the application, supporting documents and any officer decision notes provided. Identify the concern: the proposed visit, finances, ties outside Canada, immigration history or another issue. Do not assume that a standard refusal phrase tells the whole story.
Make a short comparison: the officer’s concern, the evidence previously submitted, and the new or clearer evidence available now. This is a useful way to separate a material gap from a disagreement with the result.
Explain what the evidence changes
For example, a concern about the purpose of a visit may call for a coherent itinerary and supporting arrangements. A financial concern requires evidence of the available funds and their source. Documents should support an accurate explanation of the applicant’s circumstances.
More documents are not automatically better. Contradictory dates, unexplained deposits or an itinerary inconsistent with the stated purpose can create further questions. The task is to address the identified concern with relevant, credible evidence.
Reapplying is not the only question
If there may have been a legal or procedural error, obtain advice promptly about whether another response should be considered. A new application and a challenge to a decision serve different purposes. Do not assume that reapplying preserves every other option or deadline.
Hiring a representative does not itself change an officer’s previous decision or guarantee approval. The value of a review is identifying the issue, assessing the available options and preparing a record that addresses the requirements honestly.
