Who I Am

This website, canadavisalawyers.com (the “Site”), is the professional website of Miguel Martins Pereirinha, a Canadian immigration lawyer and Partner at Slayen Immigration Law in Vancouver, British Columbia. Legal services are provided through Slayen Immigration Law. This policy explains how personal information submitted through the Site is collected, used and protected, in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

Information I Collect

When you submit the contact or consultation form, you provide your name, email address, phone number, and a description of your matter. The Site also uses standard technical data, such as caching cookies used to make pages load faster, which does not identify you personally. The Site does not run advertising and does not sell, rent or trade personal information to anyone.

How Your Information Is Used

Information submitted through the forms is used for one purpose: to respond to your inquiry and, where appropriate, schedule a consultation. Form submissions are delivered by email to the firm’s mailboxes and are not stored in the Site’s database. You will not be added to any marketing list.

Confidentiality and Solicitor-Client Privilege

Submitting a form or sending an email does not, by itself, create a solicitor-client relationship. However, all inquiries are treated as confidential. Please avoid sending highly sensitive documents through the contact form, these can be exchanged securely after we speak.

Where Your Information Is Stored

Email is processed through Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online). The Site is hosted on managed servers. Some service providers may store data outside of Canada; where that occurs, the information remains protected by contractual and technical safeguards, though it may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction in which it is stored.

Third-Party Services

The contact page includes an embedded Google Map, which is served by Google and subject to Google’s own privacy policy. The Site contains links to external websites; I am not responsible for their privacy practices.

Retention

Inquiry emails are retained only as long as needed to respond and to meet professional record-keeping obligations. If you become a client, your information is handled under the firm’s file-retention policies and the requirements of the Law Society of British Columbia.

Your Rights

You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information I hold about you, or withdraw consent to its use, subject to legal and professional obligations. To do so, contact me using the details below.
